- Widely spoken across East Africa — Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and parts of the DRC — relevant for growing Egyptian trade with East Africa
Swahili translation is a smaller but genuinely growing part of our workload, reflecting Egypt's expanding trade relationships with East African markets — Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in particular. Most requests are commercial: trade agreements, product documentation, and occasionally NGO or development-sector project documents for organizations operating across the East African Community. Swahili has heavy historical Arabic vocabulary borrowing due to centuries of Indian Ocean trade contact, which can mislead translators into assuming more overlap with Arabic grammar than actually exists — the underlying grammar is Bantu, not Semitic.
